Wolmerians have worn Jamaica, the West Indies and Great Britain — Olympians, Test cricketers, Reggae Boyz, and a Girls hockey international.

The Hall of Fame is the Trust’s 2015 and 2019 induction list.

Wolmer’s Trust High School for Girls · Long jump

Audrey Reid

Entered Girls in 1968. Long jump at the Montreal 1976 Olympics. Michael Carr, the night of Fraser-Pryce’s Beijing gold, called her “Wolmer’s first and only Olympian until now.” The school honoured her in 2008.

Olympic 100 metres champion at Beijing 2008 and London 2012 — the first Caribbean woman to win that race. Olympics.com records eight Olympic medals (three gold, four silver, one bronze) and five world 100 metres titles.

Michael Frater

Ran the second leg on Jamaica’s Olympic 4×100 metres golds in 2008 and 2012. The London team set the world record, 36.84. The Gleaner photographed the 2008 homecoming at Wolmer’s Girls, with Fraser.

Jamaica-born. Olympic high-jump silver at Beijing 2008 for Great Britain. Jamaica’s national record, 2.34 metres, from 2003. Died 20 April 2017. The Gleaner of 26 September 2008 named him with Fraser and Frater at a WOBA tribute.

Julian Forte

Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020/21. At Champs 2010 he won the Class 1 100 and 200, then ran the last leg of the 4×400 as Wolmer’s Boys took the cup for the first time since 1956.

World junior 400 metres hurdles champion, 2014. Olympian in 2016, 2020 and 2024. The Gleaner of 14 April 2015 named him of Wolmer’s Boys’ at the Penn Relays.

The Trust library holds an undated print of a Girls’ hockey side. Seychelle Doyley kept for Jamaica Under-21 in 2018 and 2019.

The Observer of 14 March 2024 recorded Wolmer’s Girls 4–0 over St Hugh’s in ISSA/JHF Under-19 league play — Kamili Whitley, Sarah Stupart (two) and Tabitha Barracks. In 2019 they reached the ISSA Under-19 final, 2–0 over Denbigh in the semi-final (Aaliyah James and Sheneil McKnight). Merl Grove took that final.

The 2014 ISSA/JHF Under-19 girls’ title went to St Hugh’s. Wolmer’s Boys won the boys’ title that year, 2–0 over Mona.

Netball. The Gleaner of 18 December 2025: Wolmer’s Girls, defending urban junior champions, beat Norman Manley 29–25 in the ISSA Urban Schoolgirl junior final at St Andrew High. Coach Tracy Ann Griffiths. Jadeen Frith scored 27 from 29; Nia Ashley at goal attack. The senior urban title that day went to Gaynstead.

Boys’ Champs

Wolmer’s Boys won the first ISSA Boys’ Championships, in 1910, and won again in 2010 — a hundred years on, and the first title since 1956. The Observer and TrackAlerts lists name these years:

Those lists do not give Wolmer’s an overall Girls’ Champs title. Christoff Bryan took the Champs and Penn Relays high jump in 2014.

Cricket

ESPNcricinfo, 25 February 2013: six Wolmer’s old boys have kept wicket for the West Indies. “If one were to write a story of West Indian wicketkeeping, it’s tough to find a better setting.”

Cricinfo in 1989 called Dujon, then Wolmer’s captain, “the eighth old boy of the school to represent West Indies.” Tony Becca — himself a Wolmer’s old boy — writing in the Gleaner on 26 February 2007, added Allan Rae, Reggie Scarlett, Maurice Foster, Patrick Patterson, Gareth Breese and Donovan Pagon, and said Rae and Pat Rousseau had both been West Indies board presidents.

Patterson went to Happy Grove and Wolmer’s. Becca, in 2007, wrote that Wolmer’s had won the Sunlight Cup, later the Grace Shield, 28 times in 101 years.

Reggae Boy. Fourteen years at Bolton Wanderers. Order of Distinction, 2025. JIS: he went to Wolmer’s Boys on a track scholarship, then the football came out.

Two people already on the Trust’s induction list have a sports life.

Sir Herbert MacDonald — 2015, “sportsman and sports administrator.” Pat Rousseau — 2019, SportsMax, West Indies Cricket Board, the Cricket World Cup in the Caribbean.

Stephen Francis, a Boys old boy and the MVP coach, is on Trust News — the 5 July 2026 statement and a 2006 Gleaner profile.
