Wolmer’s Boys’ ‘A’ team won the 2025 National High School Chess Championships, contested over two days and six rounds at Calabar High School, the Observer reported.
The team scored a perfect 20 wins from 20 games in the preliminary round. In the finals they recorded 16 wins, six draws and two losses. Campion College ‘A’ finished second.
FIDE Master Jaden Shaw, the captain, scored 6/6 on board one. Corbin Harvey scored 5.5/6 on board two. Shaw dedicated the win to the Wolmer’s schools community ahead of the 296th anniversary on 21 May 2025. Warren Elliott is named as head coach.
