The Daily Telegraph of 11 October 2000, in its obituary of Peter Targett, recorded that he went to Wolmers High School, Kingston. The paper printed the stay this way: during the Second World War, Major Targett was posted to Jamaica and the family went with him.
PETER TARGETT, who has died aged 72, was headmaster of Southgate School in Enfield, north London, from 1972 to 1985, turning it into one of London’s most reputable comprehensives. The paper headed the piece “Comprehensive head and palm reader.” One day he was bitten in the leg by a scorpion, but was saved by the family’s quick-witted maid, who sucked out the poison. The Telegraph does not say Boys or Girls.
