Hector Wynter, “the Wolmerian,” Rhodes Scholar 1949

The Jamaica Observer of 24 March 2017, “Rhodes Scholars of the era,” wrote: “Firstly, there was the Wolmerian, Hector Wynter of Brentford Road, who won the Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford University in 1949 and graduated with a Master of Arts in languages and later became a Government Senator and Minister of State.”

The Daily Gleaner of 22 June 1981, in a scan held by the National Library of Jamaica, recorded Don Brice naming Hector Wynter, editor of the Gleaner, among illustrious old boys at a Wolmer’s Old Boys’ dinner for Prime Minister Seaga.
