Wolmer’s fêtes Fraser and Frater after Beijing

October 7, 2008
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Gleaner of 7 October 2008 reported that police could not keep Wolmer’s Boys’ and Girls’ students from mobbing Olympic gold medallists Shelly-Ann Fraser and Michael Frater when the two, “past students of the Heroes Circle-based schools,” visited on an Olympic homecoming tour the day before.
A mural of Fraser met visitors at Wolmer’s Girls. Students held placards and shouted “We love you!” Wayne Marshall, “also a past student,” performed This Moment. Fraser said: “It is amazing! I thank everyone for the support.” She “credited Wolmer’s Girls for her accomplishment, saying the discipline she received at the school assisted in honing her talent.” Frater spoke against violence toward children.
