KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Gleaner of 30 May 2004 printed Edward Seaga’s review of Patrick Bryan, The legacy of a goldsmith: a history of Wolmer’s schools, 1729–2003, given at the launch of the schools’ 275th anniversary on 20 May 2004.

Seaga, himself a Wolmerian, wrote that Bryan — professor of history and deputy dean of humanities at the University of the West Indies, and a Wolmerian — had answered what the school had been doing across two and three-quarter centuries. The review restates John Wolmer’s 1729 will, that the residue of his estate be put on interest “for the foundation of a free school,” and the “fairly substantial” bequest of £2,360.
