Milton Samuda named Commander of the Order of Distinction

Trust Chair Milton J. Samuda has been named to the Order of Distinction in the rank of Commander (CD) on Jamaica’s 2026 National Honours and Awards list, published on Independence Day.

The official citation, issued by the Chancery of the Orders of the Societies of Honour, reads: “Mr Milton Jefferson SAMUDA — For service in the field of Law and contribution to the development of Civil Society.”

Outgoing Bank of Jamaica Governor Richard Byles is among seven Jamaicans who have been appointed to the Order of Jamaica (OJ) and will join 139 other nationals journeying to King’s House in October for recognition at the National Honours and Awards Ceremony.

The Government has also named 25 recipients of membership in the Order of Distinction in the Rank of Commander (CD). Among them is Auditor General Pamela Monroe Ellis… She is joined by endocrinologist Dr Evan Dale Abel; cardiothoracic surgeon Dr Roger Irvine; diplomat Ambassador Sharon Miller; banking executive Audrey Tugwell Henry; attorney Milton Samuda; and academic leader Professor Densil Williams.

A further 41 individuals will receive membership in the Order of Distinction in the Rank of Officer. Four persons will receive the Badge of Honour for Gallantry.
