The Mayberry Jamaica Amateur Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (JABBFA) National Senior Championship was held on Saturday, 15 August 2026, at 7 p.m. at the Wolmer’s Boys’ Auditorium — the Douglas Orane Auditorium — National Heroes Circle.

The Gleaner, previewing the finals that morning, wrote that the championship returned to the stage under the theme “Investing in Excellence, Building Champions.” The finals followed a 30 July launch at the Liguanea Club in New Kingston, where Mayberry Investments Limited reaffirmed a $1-million sponsorship pledge. Mayberry has been title sponsor since 2022.

“At Mayberry Investments Limited, our mission extends well beyond the boardroom. We are in the business of building futures, and we recognise that strong, healthy communities are the foundation on which strong economies are built,” Desiree Wheeler, marketing manager at Mayberry Investments Limited, told the Gleaner.

Dr Romario Thomas, dermatologist, cosmetic surgeon, and past men’s physique champion, said: “The sport gives you purpose and community. It doesn’t matter if you’re a professional, doesn’t matter what you’re doing outside of it… It gave me purpose and community.”

Orick Anderson, treasurer of JABBFA, said Mayberry had become “a strategic partner to our association in the growth and transformation of bodybuilding in Jamaica.”

The Observer’s results, published 19 August, recorded that the Wolmer’s Boys’ auditorium was transformed into a stage of discipline and physique before a packed house of patrons, families and fitness enthusiasts. Competitors from gyms across the island battled through 14 categories, with the evening building to three overall titles.

Nicolas Wilson of New Level Gym, who topped the Bodybuilding Middleweight class, went on to claim the Bodybuilding Overall crown. Shaquille Bowen of Classic Body Fitness, winner of the Men’s Physique — Tall Class, was named Men’s Physique — Overall champion. Monique Trenchfield of Island Body Fitness, who won the Women’s Bikini Fitness — Tall Class, was crowned Women’s Bikini Fitness — Overall champion.

Malik Griffiths of Raw Ground Training took first place in Classic Bodybuilding, Men’s Physique — Muscular, and Bodybuilding — Lightweight. Treshawna Hutchinson of Fit Farm Fitness Club won both the Women’s Fit Model category and the Women’s Bikini Fitness — Short Class.

Cecil Beacon of Iron Beach Gym won Bodybuilding — Masters. Naima Stennett claimed Women’s Bikini Fitness — Masters. Shania Daley of Express Fitness 24/7 took Women’s Body Fitness. Deandra Williams of NRG Fitness won Women’s Physique. Mario Watson of Fit Farm Fitness Club claimed Men’s Physique — Short Class. Lissan Wallace of Spot On Fitness topped Women’s Bikini Wellness. Franz Collins of Express Fitness 24/7 won Bodybuilding — Heavyweight.

“Every athlete who stepped onto that stage on Saturday represented months, and in many cases years, of discipline and sacrifice,” Wheeler told the Observer.
