The Gleaner of 4 January 2009, “Friends on Friends: Sean’s Humility,” quotes his friend Duncan Messado: they met in first form at Wolmer’s Boys’ School in 1985, both made the swim team that year, and after three years at Wolmer’s they both went to Hillel Academy, “where we completed high school.” They played school water polo and later the national team. The Recording Academy’s artist page agrees he played for the Jamaican national water polo team from ages 13 to 21.

The Observer of 17 February 2021 reported a tablet handover at Wolmer’s Trust High School for Boys on 15 January 2021. Sean Paul’s own sentence in that piece is: “As a student at Wolmer’s for a number of years, I was given the opportunity to receive a great education.” Sixteen years earlier the Gleaner of 6 November 2005 had recorded a 2004 Hurricane Ivan gift: Wolmer’s Boys received $500,000.

grammy.com lists one win: Best Reggae Album, Dutty Rock, 46th Annual Grammy Awards, and ten nominations in all. The Observer of 15 November 2024 recorded an honorary Doctor of Letters at the University of Technology, Jamaica, and that the Jamaican Government appointed him to the Order of Distinction in 2019.
