The Observer of 24 March 2017 named “the Rev Dr Earl Thames of Septimus Street and Wolmer’s Boys’ School, who achieved the distinction in 1959.” The Gleaner of 11 October 2016, on Rev. Henry Earl Thames, records Wolmer’s Boys’ School and that he “was later named Jamaica’s Rhodes Scholar in 1959, before attending Oxford University.”

He is not the first old-boy principal of Wolmer’s Boys. That Gleaner line belongs to Donald Bogle.
