Wayne-Kent Bradshaw, Wolmer’s then Broadway Federal — Los Angeles Times

LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Times “How I Made It” profile of Wayne-Kent Bradshaw, then 71 and chief executive of Broadway Federal Bank, recorded that he was born and raised in Kingston by a single mother and “took and passed a national exam that got him admitted to Wolmer’s, an august prep school that once was reserved only for the children of wealthy families.”
At 14 his mother, Gloria, left for work in Los Angeles. He later joined her, attended L.A. City College, ran the 400 metres on an athletic scholarship at the University of Arizona, and took an MBA at USC. In 2018 Broadway was, the paper wrote, “the last African American bank headquartered in the Western United States.”
