KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Observer of 22 July 2018 reported that Wolmer’s Boys’ School was “plunged into mourning late last week after the passing of its longest-serving Headmaster Eric Coleridge Barnett.”

Trust Chairman Milton Samuda, in a statement the paper printed, said Barnett, “himself a Wolmerian, led the school at a critical time in its exceptional history and influenced an entire generation of Wolmerians.” Samuda called him “a historian and teacher of history,” named his mother Thelma, a teacher, and his father Eric, of the Jamaican civil service, and said Barnett’s teaching career had taken him to England, Scotland and Belize before “his most important, longest and deeply rewarding challenge, that of headmaster of his alma mater.”
