Fraser-Pryce honoured in Kingston and gives US$50,000 to Wolmer’s Girls

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Olympian Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, an old girl of Wolmer’s Trust High School for Girls, was presented with the symbolic key to the city of Kingston and used the occasion to give US$50,000 to her alma mater.
The ceremony was held at Wolmer’s Girls. Fraser-Pryce framed the day as “From Waterhouse to Wolmer’s to the world.” The Jamaica Gleaner reported the same gift and honour on 14 February 2025.
Fraser-Pryce is a five-time world 100 metres champion and a double Olympic gold medallist in the 100 metres. She also founded the Pocket Rocket Foundation, which awards academic scholarships to high-school student-athletes.
In The Players’ Tribune (11 August 2021) she wrote, in her own words: “I went to Wolmer’s Trust High School for Girls, which I think is the oldest school in the Caribbean, and the best school in Jamaica.”
