He trained at Rose Bruford College from 1965, graduating in 1968, and later co-founded the Arden School of Theatre (1991), where he was head of acting until 2002.<\/p>\n      <p>Based in Manchester, he played Mark Antony, Banquo and Doctor Faustus on stage, Jeremy in <em>Love Actually<\/em> (2003) and Dr McKinnon in <em>Coronation Street<\/em> (1992). With the playwright Maureen Lawrence he made <em>Speak of Me As I Am<\/em> (2013\u201317), a conversation with the memory of Ira Aldridge.
